We Need Veterinary Technician(s)--Can You Volunteer?
The sanctuary is in need of someone qualified such as a Veterinary Technician(s)
who would be able to come in at least once or twice a month (anytime on Sats or Suns,
nights M-F) and check the Sanctuary's cats' eyes, ears, rears, teeth.  If you or
someone you know can help, please call me at 901-850-5919 or Email Rita

Farewell To CT The Famous Cat
CT spent most of his 16 years at the Germantown Community Theatre
until the time came when he needed a safer (inside only) environment.
CT was a "special" guest at PurrEver for the last 14 months of his life.
CT exited the stage late Feb 2, 2006

The moment CT set his paws in PurrEver Ranch, all the other cats
instinctively knew this cat was Boss.  CT talked—a LOT.  Some of
the cats said he was all ego while others thought that he just liked
the sound of his own meow.  None of us cared about his celebrity status
but we all fell in love with his heart.

His absence has left a deafening silence at the Sanctuary.
We are all purrever grateful for knowing & loving a cat named CT.

Cat Litter To Fight The Corona Virus (FIP)
Dr. Diane Addie, senior lecturer in Veterinary Virology at the University of Glasgow, has spent the last 18 years researching feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) and feline coronavirus infection (FCoV).  She has been assessing the activity of various cat litters against feline coronavirus in the laboratory and has the results on a chart.
www.dr-addie.com/index.htm

Dr. Susan Little had this to say:
"It’s based on informal testing she has done. It has never been submitted to a journal, reviewed by peers, or duplicated by others. May be true, might not be, hard to say."
Susan Little, DVM
President, Winn Feline Foundation

Pictured is PurrEver Ranch's Bootsie Boy, the bestest kitten that ever graced
this planet & lost his gentle little life to FIP.  May the angels hold him
tenderly & lovingly until his sweet paws are back in my arms.  We will meet
again my sweet little friend.

PurrEver Ranch was just a little girl’s dream.
A little girl that brought home every stray cat and dog in the neighborhood.
As a misunderstood child, I found companionship and acceptance from my furry friends.
As an awkward teenager, I found comfort in my always-faithful feline.
It was the cat that provided tenderness when the man that promised to love me lifted his heavy hand.
As a single mom, it was the cat that listened to my fears.
The cat provided a pillow of love to the little girl with a father that never came around.
It was the cat that listened to the dramas of a teenage girl spreading her wings.
It was the cats that filled the spaces of a home suddenly quiet & empty.
Cats have always been there for me in my life.
I would tell you I had been rescuing cats all my life
However, truth be known…they have been rescuing me.

Greetings, Humans!

Allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Vivian Leigh aka Cotton Belle or Rose Petal...depending on my mewd.  It will be my pleasure to write all future mewsletters as our purrson, Mama Rita, never has time to sit still & besides...I'm much more clever!  You might ask yourself, how a meowvalous babe like me ended up homeless.  Sugar Darlin', it can happen to any cat--I've seen it all.  My ex-human (a Despurrate Housewife!) threw me away when the youngest one went off to college & suddenly I was in the way.  Imagine.  A cat of my calipurr!  Hmmppph!  Mama Rita rescued me from a stainless steel cage where I was forced to endure for over a month.  But I was one of the rare lucky ones.  It hisses me off to think of what happens to most...

We welcomed two more orphaned senior kitties from the Mississippi coast recently.  Two black purries named Mischief & Tinni.  Mama Rita drove them back all by purrself only to find out Mischief tested positive for Feline Leukemia.   It made Mama Rita cry.   But we did some educating & rearranging and found out we can all live together as long as we don't share bowls or boxes.  Mischief has her very own large cage (next to a big window) that she shares with Tinni because they howled for each other when seperated.  It all worked out purrfectly good!

Good Mews!  Good Mews!
PurrEver Ranch is now a 501(C)3 non-profit, charitable organization!
Headbutts & paws up to our attorney, Don Pemberton, who made this all pawsible.
So please help our Mama Rita so that she can save more homeless senior kittizens!

Hand in paw, we can make a difference!

Help The Senior Kittizens Without Spending An Extra Penny!
It is with great sadness that Purrever Ranch announces the passing of our Special girl.  Special passed away April 4, 2006.   Special was PurrEver Ranch's first official resident.  It was because of this very special cat that PurrEver Ranch came to be.  Special was spared from shelter euthanization after her humans moved and threw her away at the age of 10+.  Special had a very serious eye infection & needed immediate medical attention.  The Vet told me, "This cat could not be in any more pain."  Her pain was eased and the infection treated.  Special lived for almost two more years at the Sanctuary.  Two very special years.  Many of you may have read about Special on the website but it is worth repeating.

In May of 2004,  I dropped by the shelter to put some aloe vera on some of the sick kitties noses in isolation.  I was informed it would be a sad day & that euthanizations would take place.  At first I tried to accept the fact that CAS was a kill shelter.  I tried to convince myself I had several rescued cats that I was caring for & simply could not afford to take any more in.

I asked if I could feed some tuna to the kitty cat for her last meal & was given permission to do so.  As I opened the can, the cat began talking to me.  Mewing up a storm.  She didn't have to open her mouth though, I heard every word she said. I refused to look at her.  It was then that the cat began waving her paw at me to get my attention---I swear--she waved her right paw up & down.  I hesitantly looked into her eyes & heard her scream, "HELP ME!"  With tears in my eyes, I opened her cage, picked her up & felt the terror running thru her body.  I held her tight & whispered softly, "you're coming home with me, Special." I renamed her Special because that is what she is.

It was at that moment that PurrEver Ranch, the cat sanctuary, I've been dreaming of for years became a reality.

Good-bye my sweet, loving, gentle--never did anything wrong cat.  The Kittizens & I miss your soft being.  We will meet again, my dear friend.  With love, your last & loving human, Rita

Please DONATE so more special cats can be saved from the needle of death simply because they were considered garbage & thrown away.
