The Special & Senior Kittizens would like to give purrs to those that have helped keep us alive with your donations. Really. Without your help, we would not have food to eat, clean beds to sleep on, medicine to take & Vets to care for us. Because of
your generosity, we live. To those that mailed in the $5 Fresh Step Coupon & other cat coupons that help defray expenses,
we are pawsitively grateful. Please keep emailing us your Fresh Step PAWPOINTS--this helps us get much needed cat litter!
Mama Rita totaled her "catmobile" May 11th after it tried to eat a few trees. Our human got banged/bruised up but is lucky
to be alive. We kept her company while she was in bed a few days & nursed her with a love blanket made up of kittizens!
NEW SENIOR KITTIZEN RESIDENTS!
Ms Cindi Catis a 14+ Himalayan that was thrown away at a kill shelter when she got a urinary tract infection & her ex-humans wouldn't take her to the vet. Cindy spent over a month in a cage wondering why her ex-humans didn't care.
With a little medicine & diet, Ms Cindi is doing just fine. This old lady is worthy of someone caring if she lives or dies. A precious, tender little womancat that just wants to purr in peace. Ms Cindi Cat is cherished at PurrEver Ranch Sanctuary. She is told how special she is every day.

Mama Rita spends SO much time cleaning & that takes away from our lovin' lap time. If there are any local heros that would like to help launder our bedding, please contact our human. Ideally she would like to drop off in mornings & pick up the next week or so. Our human has to leave us during the day to work--if you live in the Collierville/Germantown area off Poplar or Nonconnah OR off Hwy 64 (Somerville to Memphis), she could drop/pick up on her way to/from work.
EMAIL Rita if you would like to volunteer your services. This would be invaluable to us Kittizens as she would be able to love on us more & we despurrately need some affection
A Very Personal Note From PurrEver Ranch’s Founder, Rita Cockrell Wood
There are days that I wonder if I have the strength to make it through another day. How far can I stretch the last $10. If I can stomach one more peanut butter or bologna sandwich. I go to bed tired & wake up feeling the same way. The Sanctuary is a full-time job in itself, but there aren’t enough donations to justify that & so I must work an additional full-time job. And even then, I spend the majority of my income on the needs of PurrEver Ranch.
Unlike most shelters, PurrEver Ranch does not receive any donations from pet food or cat litter companies. To qualify for this sort of donation, the companies want to give out samples of their product to a mimimum of 100 adoptees per year. I've tried to explain to them that PurrEver is a HOSPICE for the old & unadoptable. They are only concerned about the distribution of their product... Also, unlike most Rescue organizations, PurrEver doesn't receive income from adoption fees. PurrEver Ranch depends ENTIRELY on donations.
The week before I had my automobile accident, I began questioning if I was truly on the right path. Did God really want me to care for his homeless, elderly cats & if so why wasn’t He helping me. Why was everything so hard? I was tired of worrying, crying and wondering if there would be enough to care for the cats in my care. I began losing faith in myself, in God and the Sanctuary.
Then I almost died in a horrific automobile accident when I swerved to miss a vehicle & lost control of my truck. By all accounts, the Police, EMTs & Firemen all said I should not have survived. As I laid in bed for days following the accident, I developed a heightened sense of everything around me but especially my purpose on this earth. Quite simply, I felt the presence of Angels. There is a reason I am still still here. As the cats tried to comfort me as I lay in pain, I promised them I would never think of giving up on them again. God had not given up on me. For surely, He must believe in me--and I feel with ALL my heart that He believes in PurrEver Ranch. I am now asking you to believe in me. To believe in PurrEver Ranch. To believe life on earth is sacred. To believe just because you are old and alone is no reason for a death sentence.
Those that know me personally, know how ferously independent I am & asking for help is incredibly hard. But I ask not for myself, but for the homeless cats in my care. The Senior Kittizens really need your help. Monthly donations are urgently needed. Please just give what you can when you can.
Walter (approx 2 yrs old) was thrown from a car on a lonely country road. The trauma injured his upper right canine. For three days he sat in the same area waiting for the monsters that threw him away to come back & get him. I bribed him with wet food & was able to catch him. Walter turned into a huge love monkey & would be excellent around children. LAP CAT!
Gets along with other cats but is an alpha male, loves dogs!
Somebody threw this beautiful, SWEET, purebred, calico Persian (front declawed)
away in a high kill shelter.
Lexi was rescued moments from euthanization.
Lexi is 8 yrs old and still has many years left. She is a healthy, tender kitty & would purrfer her own family. She gets along okay with other kitties and dogs. ADORABLE!
